Picture Frame repurposed

I found this on craftgawker so I took an old picture frame and made one for my dorm.

Make sure the background of it is a light color so you can see the marker over it.

Quotes on the everything!

It’s hard to see this one but it’s a lyric from Mumford and Sons song Awake my Soul.
I used some thin carboard from old boxes. I then poked holes in each peice to spell out the word and then sewed the word in with yarn. I think if it were bigger it’d look a little more neat.

This was an curtain I got just to cover up my closet area. I got the cheapest one and hated how dull it was. So… I hot glued yarn on it to spell out the lyrics to Photosynthesis by Frank Turner.

Again I used a lyric from Mumford an Sons. I used old pages from a worn out book and painted on the letters. I used twine to hang them.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
One of the greatest things about crafting is taking something that seems to no longer serve a purpose and giving it new life! It’s the ultimate way to be thrifty and recycle. By using yarn from an old blanket you can make all kinds of new things, an old t-shirt can become a hip new carpet, and cardboard can be useful in infinite ways. I don’t think anything feels better than looking at something and saying “I made that” or seeing the use in things others can’t.

New Years Calendar
I saw this online and thought it would be cool to have for my new years party.

So I took some old pages of a worn book and painted out each month on a page and hung it up by the snack area.

With the tutorial from this site:
http://ohhappyday.com/2011/04/diy-party-confetti-egg-game/
I made glitter eggs for a party. Although I didn’t get any photos of the eggs, I did get these photos of us cracking them on each others head. My brother hid them outside before the party and we had to go find them. I filled all the eggs with sparkles.

I upcycled a bag of old tester glasses my dad found at a thrift shop for $3. I popped out all the lences, drew the 2012 on cardboard waiting to be recycled, painted them fun colors, and hot glued them on.
